Eph 6:13 “Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand”
As i sit here at my desk, memories of The Katrina Disaster engulf my mind. What I still don’t understand fully, is how those massive flood walls and levees constructed by the “Us Army Corps Of Engineers” could collapse, resulting to the high magnitude catastrophe that was witnessed. Worth noting, is that the entire wall did not fall down-it was just but a small section that collapsed. Therefore what flies in the face of logic is that, that small affected section, would eventually lead to one of the biggest catastrophes in the history of the US.
The lesson here is simple, the apostle paul is suggesting that we cannot afford to neglect one part without weakening the entire armor. Some of the sections of the armor that Paul highlights are: Girding your waist with truth, Taking the Breastplate of Righteousness, Putting on your feet the gospel of peace, Wearing the Gospel of Faith, and putting on the Helmet of salvation.
E.G White wrote,
“The Christian life is a battle and a march. In this warfare there is no release; the effort must be continuous and persevering. It is by unceasing endeavor that we maintain the victory over the temptations of satan”
We can take the assurances that Christ has already defeated satan on the cross-His victory is ours and that Christ has provided a “whole armor of God”. Had the flood walls and levees in New Orleans been strong all round, no amount of tension would have broken them. Dear brethren, I beseech you to the take the ” Whole armor of God”. It will keep our wall and levees intact in times of trouble.
