Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy. Matt 5:7

In one of the beatitudes, Jesus talks about an aspect that is pivotal in our day to day life-Mercy. Christ himself is the personification of “mercy.” The character of mercy is depicted during Christ’s entire ministry here on earth-He was merciful to the woman who was caught in adultery, He was merciful to the paralytic who was brought to him on a bed, He was merciful to the woman who had been bleeding for a long time. And in all these situations, He alleviated their pain.

Scratch the surface of most of Christ’s teaching and you will find the word mercy laying beneath. He died for us because He was merciful. Had it not been for His mercy(Grace), where would we be!!!
And so He says, “Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy.”

If we could take Christ’s example and actually put this attribute into practice, the world will become a better place. Remember that almost everything in our lives, hovers around relationships with our fellow human beings and just imagine how wonderful our relationships will be with more merciful beings. Lastly, it is important to remember the promise, “for they shall obtain mercy.” Almost sounds like that balancing rule of nature-”what goes round, comes around.” Interesting but that is the reality. Let us take Christ by His word. We shall obtain mercy. Amen
