“And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:
even as the son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many” Mathew 20:27
We live in a world in which everyone wants to lead. Most people will do anything to get to the leadership position. The reasons are obvious-to some, power makes them feel good about themselves, for others power enables them to fulflill their ambition both in the right and the wrong sense of the word, yet others have a genuine desire to help others and so they view leadership as the best route to that goal.
The problem though, is that most people have not mastered the best way to become the greatest leaders. The best way is the one prescribed by the greatest teacher-Jesus Christ himself. His prescription is, “Service” to others. we serve others by loving them as we love ourselves, we serve others by providing for those who are in need, We serve others by having the ability to forgive, and yes, we serve others by preaching to them about the good news of Jesus Christ.
The greatest test of greatness is one’s willingness to serve. Everyone’s prayer therefore should go like these, “Lord, may I seek first to become great in your sight by making others great in my sight.
