Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him 1 John 5:14-15
Christ, the divine son of God, spent a lot of time in solitary, praying to His Father. The book of Luke 5:16 says, “So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.” Christ, recognized the spiritual strength that comes through prayer. We also, will receive “the” strength if we emulate Christ’s example of constant praying.
The apostle John tells us that the confidence we are to have in Christ is that, “If we ask anything according to His will, He will hear us.” There is no insinuation here of anything by the name of, chance or luck-the message is clear. Our “confidence” in Him, will be pivotal. He concludes with these, “If we Know” and not, “we guess” that he hears us, we can be assured that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
Pastor Mark Finley in His book, “End-Time Living” says that, when we pray, “Our courage will be revived, Our spiritual strength will be increased and our prayers will intensify our desire to do God’s will.” Therefore, “Lift up your petitions to the God who hears. Seek the One whose ear is always bent low listening for requests of His children. Open your hearts to a savior who is more interested in answering your prayers than you are in praying. When you do, you will discover a vital secret for living a successful Christian life during the end time.”
